Flarestone the Scorching
About:
Name: Flarestone, the Scorching
Collector Number: #9
Rock Type: Lava Crystal mixed with Emberstone (Clear red/yellow Swirl)
Function: Elite Ston’emm Warrior
Quote: “Don’t get too close to the fire if you don’t want to get burned.”
Abilities: Flarestone can store and release intense heat from his body which allows him to scorch, ignite or melts most materials. This allows him some immunity to the Lavarrian’s molten touch, which would horribly scar or kill most other ston’emm warriors. He can even swim in the molten sea of Slauria without any burns or scorching to his rocky form. Due to the process that created him, Flarestone cannot reconstitute himself with nearby rocks and can only re-form himself with his own parts. He also can no longer move through solid earth, but is stronger than the average ston’emm enabling him to lift as much as 8 Glyans.
Bio: Flarestone was the Ston’emm Army’s secret weapon against the Lavarrians during the war on Slauria centuries ago. Utilizing specially grown Lava Crystals (crystals that can withstand extreme temperatures), Flarestone was reconstituted with 100% of these crystals and transformed into something different: a Ston’emm who could not be burned by a Lavarrian’s touch. Using these lava crystals on all ston’emms was their next step…until the side-effects started. Apparently, any heat Flarestone withstood was absorbed into the lava crystals making up his body and caused him to expel it outwards constantly. Even when not actively producing heat, a shimmer of heat in the air around him can be seen. This whole process has left Flarestone very angry, lonely and isolated, as most other ston’emm cannot get within a few feet of him unless they’re wearing lava crystal armor. When the time came to fight in a new war against the Armorvor, Flarestone was more than willing to do so. Armorvor cringe in terror, his screaming roar filling the air as red-hot crystalline fists pummel them into submission.
NYCC 2012 Ston'emms Release:
In this gallery you will see all 39 different Ston'emm figures cast by Jeremy Sung of Spy Monkey Creations for the first Ston'emms release at NYCC 2012. Jeremy also designed and sculpted the crystalline brains/eyes for all the light-piped Ston'emms.
Just about every Ston'emm also had their teeth, toes and back crystals painted by my wife Beth Negri and each came in a baggie with a header card stapled to it digitally designed by me (Chris Negri). The back of each header card also had the name and number of the Ston'emm enclosed in the baggie.
UPDATE- 9/4/2021: Added some more photos of the Ston'emms made from this release in addition to some behind-the-scenes photos taken by Jeremy Sung of Spy Monkey Creations of the raw castings! These photos had been lost to time on our Photobucket account and over on the old Blogspot blog, so this is the first time in 9 years they have been made available to look at.
